18th Anniversary 

This dojo formally opened its doors on September 2, 1980. Much has transpired since that time, some of which included 5 moves into different premises excluding a three month period when we were left without a training place. The hardy souls of that period then continued training on a nearby sportsfield. In 1989, we moved into our present location and since then we have stabilised. Of significant note is the move from Kyokushin Karate to Ashihara Karate in December 1994. In December of 1993, the dojo became the Honbu for the Ashihara Karate International Organisation.

On September 2, the Honbu celebrated its 18th Anniversary. Greetings of well wishes came from all over the world. Below is of those messages!

We hope to someday in the future, have our very own Honbu dojo which we intend to custom build. Time will tell! - "Anything that you dream, by the nature that you dream, makes it possible."

Congratulations to you on your 18th anniversary!!  That's a wonderful achievement!

The dojo that I train at is just celebrating our 3rd year. It's been a bit precarious this year, but somehow we are still going, though now located in a dance studio (talk about music and karate...) where we have an excellent chance to improve our focus by being exposed to loud volume show tunes and the sound of little feet in tap shoes :-).

I hope that we too, will someday celebrate an 18th anniversary....

They say 17 is a cool number, but 18 is even "cooler(!)", being a multiple of 9, thus 1+8=9, try 27, 2+7=9, etc., etc. Hence 9 and its multiples are considered powerful numbers, similarly, hope that with God's Grace, the Ashihara Dojo(and contents, of course!) just keep getting more united and strong from this year onwards, Osu!.
